Imagine the weight for all the equipment VS Sony RX100 II (The Camera itself). Its weights ALOT less heavier.
So here are some of the specification of the SONY RX100 II
- Revolutionary 1.0-type back-illuminated Exmor R™ CMOS sensor with effective 20.2MP
- F1.8 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens with 3.6x optical zoom
- Multi Interface Shoe and Multi TerminalTiltable,
- 3.0” White Magic™ LCD monitor with a resolution of 1,229K dots
- Simple connectivity via Wi-Fi and NFC
- Control ring and intuitive interface with innovative step-zoom function
1) Megapixels - well i prefer a much higher MP camera than a 16MP camera that is common on all Compact Cameras.
2) Connectivity - It has Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity so i can send photos to my phone immediately and upload to any social media or being able to control the camera with my phone.
3) Tiltable Screen - It allows me to be able to capture photos at a lower/higher angle so i do not have to lie down or use a ladder to capture images.
4) Intelligent Auto - It has the ability to choose what kind of photo you are taking i.e. Marco, Low Light
5) Controlling the camera using your phone. You have to install a software provided by Sony on your Android phone in order to use this function. Basically you see everything like how you use the camera function on your phone, but this time your phone acts like a remote control with basic functions like Enabling/Disabling Flash.
Got this at a special price too! At SGD$820 w GST from Click! Cameras. Standard Retail Price was SGD$999
It comes with a free 16GB Class 4 SDHC from Sony.
So after all the good things about this camera here comes the bad things about it.
1) Wi-Fi - Though this camera is able to connect to a wireless network. You will not be able to connect it IF your wireless network is using the following authentication method. WPA2 Personal, WPA2 Enterprise, 802.1x. It is only capable of connecting to networks with WEP, WPA authentication or is UNSECURED.
2) The tiltable screen - You can only move Up and Down and NOT left and right.
3) Manual Focus - When you turn the control ring, the display automatically zooms into the picture at its MAXIMUM. (It could be that i'm not doing the right thing which means its a USER issue)
4) Auto Focusing - Sometimes it cant really focus on the subject you want to take. But you can take a zoom out photo and manually adjust the zoom later on Photoshop/Lightroom
Well for a Compact camera its good enough for me because if i really need to ask for more functionality or features i would be asking for a DSLR and not a Compact Camera.
Here are some of the photos that i took with it. (Click on the photos the view the full picture)
Well for me its certainly a camera that's worth it.
